Ukraine MEE help

How does the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hungary (ELCH) wish to contribute?

Being aware of its own size, potential and the Lutheran traditions, the ELCH wishes to assist the people in need in a professional manner. Therefore, we have decided to focus our efforts on the Eastern Hungarian regions, where most refugees arrive.

In cooperation with the diaconal institutions in Nyíregyháza, our colleagues assess the needs of the people arriving to the border on a daily basis and acquire the necessary supplies based on that information. This way we can provide quick and up-to-date response to the actual needs of the families, most of whom move on the next day. Your donations will help us to purchase these supplies and enable us to hire Ukrainian-speaking staff members, who can assist coordination and give information to new arrivals.

Fundraising

The fastest and most effective way to help is to send financial donations. Therefore, we ask you to choose this form of helping those who have to flee. If you can afford it, please send your donations via bank transfer to the following account:

Account name: Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hungary
IBAN: HU70 1170 7024 2047 8070 0000 0000
SWIFT: OTPVHUHB

Donations in kind

Due to the constantly changing nature of needs, we ask you to contact Mr. Attila Mészáros, Coordinator for Refugee Help at the Administrative Office of the ELCH, regarding any donations in kind. E-mail address: This email address is being protected from spambots. Co-operation with humanitarian organizations

The Administrative Office of the ELCH has offered its help to the Hungarian state through the appropriate channels. The ELCH has also contacted the Hungarian Interchurch Aid and expressed its willingness to co-operate if needed.

A prayer by Presiding Bishop Dr. Tamás Fabiny helps us to feel with the refugees and find support in the word of God.
